Hollywood is a district within the city of Los Angeles, historically developed as the center of the American film and television industry. The area along Sunset Boulevard, where the Grafton on Sunset sits, runs through a commercial strip that includes hotels, entertainment venues, and production facilities serving the industry concentrated nearby. The neighborhood drew significant development through the mid-twentieth century and remains a working district rather than a preserved historical quarter, with lodging, retail, and media infrastructure coexisting along its main corridors.
