Protesters gathered outside the Hennepin County Government Center in Minneapolis on March 29, 2021, as opening statements began in the murder trial of former police officer Derek Chauvin. The trial followed the death of George Floyd, who died in police custody in Minneapolis in May 2020, sparking widespread protests against police brutality. The signs held by the demonstrators reflect sentiments of community support and a call for justice, with one banner stating, "America's Very Soul is on Trial!" The Hennepin County Government Center serves as a key judicial and administrative hub for the county.
