Minnesota National Guard soldiers stand at an intersection on Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis on May 30, 2020, during overnight protests following the death of George Floyd. The troops are positioned outside commercial buildings with plywood covering the windows and doors, reflecting security measures taken as unrest spread through the city. Nicollet Mall is a major downtown pedestrian and transit corridor, and the Guard deployment marked the city and state's emergency response during the fourth day of unrest.
