National Guard and Minneapolis Police officers stand on duty near a military vehicle during the trial of Derek Chauvin in Minneapolis. The trial, which concluded in April 2021, stemmed from the May 25th, 2020, killing of George Floyd. The presence of law enforcement and military personnel underscored the heightened tensions in the city following Floyd's death and in anticipation of the trial's verdict.
