Hennepin Avenue Bridge Arches Over the Mississippi at Night
Hennepin Avenue Bridge spans the Mississippi River at night in downtown Minneapolis.
The Hennepin Avenue Bridge crosses the Mississippi River at the site of the first bridge ever built across the river, a suspension span opened in 1855. The current structure, a concrete arch bridge completed in 1990, replaced an 1889 steel suspension bridge that had carried traffic across the same crossing for a century.
