The mirrored-glass sphere sits along Wisconn Valley Way, a road built to serve the Foxconn Technology Group development in Mount Pleasant. Foxconn and the state of Wisconsin struck a deal in 2017 for a manufacturing campus originally billed as a Gen 10.5 LCD panel plant, a project that carried more than $3 billion in state and local incentives. The plan was scaled back repeatedly in the years that followed, and the site has since housed smaller-scale assembly and data operations rather than the large LCD fabrication facility first announced.
