Continental Hotel Ghost Sign, Downtown Minneapolis
Continental Hotel, a low-income housing building in downtown Minneapolis with red brick and faded ghost signage.
The Continental Hotel building stands in downtown Minneapolis, its faded painted sign still spelling out the name across the brick parapet. The building now serves as low-income housing. Ghost signs like this one, painted directly onto brick rather than mounted as separate signage, were common advertising methods for hotels and businesses in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
