Burned Minneapolis Police Station 6 years later.

The Minneapolis police third precinct police station 6 years after it was burned by protesters on May 28th, 2020 following the murder of George Floyd. Recently, the building has been going through renovation to be re-opened as the “Minneapolis Democracy Center”. The plan is for it to be the home of the Election & Voter Services with a large community center. The city purchased a building about a mile away that it plans to develop into a new police station. Minneapolis police have been using the City of Lakes building in Downtown Minneapolis as it’s temporary 3rd precinct station for quite a few years now. Prior to that, it set up shop inside the Minneapolis Convention Center. Signs on the fencing around the precinct read: “SAY HIS NAME”, “YOU MUST BE BOLD, BRAVE, COURAGEOUS AND FIND A WAY TO GET IN THE WAY”, “WE REMEMBER GEORGE FLOYD”.
