A bench overlooks Cedar Lake in Minneapolis, its surface reflecting the surrounding trees and a distant light. This tranquil setting was photographed before wildfire smoke significantly impacted air quality in the region. Cedar Lake is part of the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes, a popular urban park system that provides residents with access to nature and recreational activities. The Chain of Lakes was developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as part of a citywide effort to create a comprehensive park system.
