Graffiti on Log and Courthouse Windows, Minneapolis

Be Water Melt Ice
Graffiti covers a large log and the windows of the Warren E. Burger Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse in downtown Minneapolis. The messages, including 'ACAB' on the courthouse windows and 'BE WATER MY FRIEND' on the log, emerged as expressions of dissent during the Minneapolis Uprising. This federal judicial center, completed in 1966, became a significant site for public protest in May and June 2020. The spray paint can resting on the log further highlights the direct and immediate nature of these statements made within the urban environment.
