Cedar Lake Trail runs along a former rail corridor connecting the Kenilworth area of Minneapolis to St. Louis Park, used today by cyclists and pedestrians. The trail parallels the alignment of the Metro Green Line Extension, a light rail project linking downtown Minneapolis to Eden Prairie. Construction along this corridor required new retaining walls and the clearing of vegetation to accommodate the rail line. St. Louis Park station is one of several planned stops along this western stretch of the route.
