George Floyd Square Warming Station and Barricade, Minneapolis

George Floyd Square in Minneapolis was the site of a protest encampment following the murder of George Floyd in May 2020. This image from April 2021 shows a warming station and barricades that were erected by protesters to control access to the area. The square, located at the intersection of 38th Street and Chicago Avenue, became a symbol of the uprising and a space for community organizing and mutual aid. The warming station provided shelter and resources to those present, while the barricades served to protect the occupied space from external interference.
