No Kings 50501 Protests in Minnesota

Coverage of protests held in Minneapolis and St. Paul opposing policies and actions associated with the Trump Administration. Throughout 2025, protests organized under the banner of “50 Protests, 50 States, One Day” (r/50501) brought thousands of people into the streets across the United States.

The first coordinated 50501 demonstrations were organized for February 5, 2025. Protesters cited concerns about federal policy decisions, the growing political influence of technology leaders such as Elon Musk, and broader threats to democratic institutions. In the Twin Cities, most of these gatherings were held at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul.

One of the largest demonstrations occurred during the “Hands Off!” protest on October 18, 2025, which organizers estimated drew roughly 100,000 people to downtown Minneapolis.

Another major demonstration, titled “No Kings!”, was held on June 14, 2025. The protest took place hours after Minnesota lawmakers Melissa Hortman and John Hoffman were tragically shot alongside their spouses. Law enforcement urged people not to attend the rally while the suspect remained at large. Authorities later released a photo of a handwritten note reading “No Kings” that was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.
