Buildings in downtown Minneapolis, including the US Bank Plaza, were boarded up in the aftermath of the Derek Chauvin murder trial. The plywood coverings, visible in this image, were a response to potential unrest following the verdict. Three days after Chauvin was found guilty of murder and manslaughter, the boarding began to be removed, signaling a return to normalcy in the city center. The trial, which stemmed from the death of George Floyd, had sparked widespread protests and a period of intense social and political focus on Minneapolis.
