Uptown Theatre on Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis displays closure messages on its marquee during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown.

The Uptown Theatre sits at Hennepin and Lagoon Avenues in the Uptown neighborhood of Minneapolis. It opened in 1916 and was rebuilt in 1939 with an Art Deco facade designed by Liebenberg and Kaplan, architects known for a string of Twin Cities movie houses. The marquee's message was a response to Minnesota's stay-at-home order, issued in late March 2020, which forced theaters and other entertainment venues statewide to close temporarily.
