The STRAT Tower rises 1,149 feet above the Las Vegas Strip, the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States. It opened in 1996 as the Stratosphere Hotel, a project developed by Bob Stupak, and now operates under Golden Entertainment. The pod near the top holds observation decks and thrill rides, including the Big Shot and X-Scream. A broadcast antenna extends above the pod, adding roughly 130 feet to the tower's total height.
