But I believe that we
can work together to get ICE out of MN!
If we keep fighting against them, I believe
we can do it, if we ALL try, together. KEEP Fighting
Minnesotans!! Minnesota is the tomb of Fascism, Alex Pretti Memorial — A posting at the Alex Pretti Memorial that reads: "The image is from a famous photo of Madrid in 1937 after the city had withstood an attack by Franco’s forces. The citizens had been helped by the arrival of some units of the International Brigades many of whom were Americans. These Americans were later demonized during the McCarthy era for being premature anti-fascists. We have translated some of the wording of the banner. NO PASARAN translates literally as THEY SHALL NOT PASS. The bottom writing on the banner says that MADRID WILL BE TOMB OF FASCISM. We used a little poetic license to hope that MINNESOTA WILL BE THE TOMB OF FASCISM. We have to keep up the fight for the long-term. We can’t get tired. When we heard the Becca Good, the widow of Renee Good say, “They had guns we had whistles...” It reminded us of what was said after democracy lost the Spanish Civil War. “We had better music, but they had better guns and more of them.” We can’t outshoot them and we shouldn’t try but we can outsmart them."

The good die young — oh.. and the Pretti gunned down in ICE cold blood in a warzone that is our city. Trump’s troops, weighted with weapons, white supremists masked their false pride while storming our castle as if it’s a ride, spraying teargas, blasphemous amass, crass brass relished the task of defending this act as they lied. ‘We are here to love each other’ — that’s Kennie’s mantra. A devoted mom and good wife, she literally sparkled. This natural leader was born to right wrongs, write poems and sing songs, yet on January 7th the unthinkable happened, shot through the heart, and Trump’s to blame, incapable of shame or pain. 17 days later it happened again. Alex Pretti — ICU — vigorous, steady and noble. This nurse stood for good, ready, willing and able. You may never know the fruit laid on your table, but it sets the stage, a million reasons to follow your belief in a better tomorrow for humanity, to do as they should. That’s why we stand — and that’s PRETTI GOOD.” /pretti/

Protesters in Minneapolis hold a sign reading "Pretti Good People Are Getting Murdered!!" during a protest against ICE. — Protesters in Minneapolis hold signs, including one reading "Pretti Good People Are Getting Murdered!!," to memorialize Alex Pretti and Renee Good. Both individuals were reportedly killed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in separate incidents. The protest occurred where Alex Pretti was killed earlier in the day. On January 24, 2026, federal immigration agents fatally shot 37-year-old Alex Pretti during Operation Metro Surge in Minneapolis. Pretti, an intensive care nurse at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System, was killed during an encounter connected to large-scale federal immigration enforcement operations taking place across the Twin Cities. Video recorded by bystanders and witnesses at the scene quickly circulated online and contradicted portions of the initial federal account of the shooting, leading to public outrage and demands for the release of additional evidence. Video showed that Pretti was armed and was shot and killed an after he was disarmed. Pretti’s death sparked days of protests, marches, and confrontations with law enforcement in Minneapolis as demonstrators condemned the federal operation and called for accountability. The shooting became a major flashpoint in ongoing national debates over immigration enforcement, federal policing powers, and the use of force during domestic operations. As of this writing, no one has been held responsible for the killing.
