Studio 54 at the MGM Grand opened in 1997, licensing the name and legacy of the original 1977 New York disco founded by Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager. The Las Vegas club occupied a multi-level space designed to evoke its namesake's Studio 54 heyday, with separate dance floors and VIP areas spread across the venue. MGM Grand marketed the club as a flagship nightlife destination during the casino resort's late-1990s and 2000s push into large-scale nightclub entertainment. The venue closed in 2012 as MGM Grand shifted its nightlife offerings to newer concepts.
