MSP Airport

Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport occupies a site in Bloomington, Minnesota, just south of the Twin Cities, and functions as the primary commercial gateway for the Upper Midwest. Operated by the Metropolitan Airports Commission, it ranks among the busiest airports in the United States and serves as Delta Air Lines' largest hub outside Atlanta.

The airport's Terminal 1, officially the Lindbergh Terminal, connects to seven lettered concourses and links directly to the Hiawatha Line light rail, giving passengers a surface transit connection to downtown Minneapolis and Saint Paul. That ground infrastructure has expanded steadily alongside the terminal itself, with parking and roadway capacity repeatedly rebuilt to keep pace with passenger volume.

The construction recorded here was part of a redevelopment push to increase parking capacity near the terminal complex, involving a multi-level concrete structure assembled through the winter with tower cranes and extensive formwork visible from the terminal roadway. The work proceeded under active conditions, with aircraft continuing to operate at adjacent gates while new decks and structural levels were added to the ramp.

By early 2020, passenger traffic at MSP was running at a scale that made the expansion pressing, before the COVID-19 pandemic sharply reduced travel later that year. The Lindbergh Terminal's interior corridors, concourse connections, and amenities including the Delta Sky Club's self-service lounge spaces all reflected the airport's sustained investment in traveler facilities during that period.
