“Platemaking” Stencil at the Star Tribune Printing Plant

A stenciled "Platemaking" label marks a workstation at the Star Tribune's printing plant in Minneapolis. Platemaking was the step in offset printing where page negatives were used to etch text and images onto thin aluminum plates, which were then mounted on the press cylinders. The Minneapolis plant printed the Star Tribune until the paper ended printing operations there in December 2025.
