People on billboards at George Floyd Square
On the one-year anniversary of George Floyd's murder, community members gathered at George Floyd Square in Minneapolis. The square, located at the intersection of East 38th Street and Chicago Avenue, has been under community control since May 26, 2020. Attendees watched a performance by Common and The Sound of Blackness from atop rooftop billboards, a testament to the ongoing significance of the space as a hub for community expression and remembrance.
