Midtown Greenway Bike Trail After Repaving, Minneapolis

The Midtown Greenway occupies a former Milwaukee Road rail corridor that runs roughly five and a half miles through south Minneapolis, connecting the Mississippi River to the Chain of Lakes. The trench-level trail was converted for cycling and pedestrian use beginning in the 1990s, with the paved bikeway completed in phases through the early 2000s. Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board crews periodically repave and restripe the corridor to manage wear from year-round commuter and recreational traffic. The route is maintained as a car-free path, separated from cross traffic by bridges and underpasses at most major streets.
