U.S. Representative Maxine Waters addresses protesters gathered outside the Brooklyn Center Police Department on April 15, 2021. The protests, which entered their seventh consecutive day, were in response to the fatal shooting of Daunte Wright by a Brooklyn Center police officer on April 11. Waters, a prominent figure in civil rights and social justice advocacy, traveled to Brooklyn Center to engage with the community and lend her support to the ongoing calls for accountability and reform.
