Minnesota National Guard members stand near a Humvee at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul. The heightened security was in response to threats of violence at state capitols nationwide following the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. A small pro-Trump rally was also taking place at the Minnesota State Capitol that day. The presence of multiple law enforcement agencies, including the National Guard, underscored the tense atmosphere and concerns for public safety.
