Lightning strikes the Hennepin County Government Center in Minneapolis during the trial of Derek Chauvin. The building, completed in 1977, serves as the primary administrative center for Hennepin County. During the trial for the murder of George Floyd, which took place in spring 2021, the courthouse was surrounded by extensive security fencing. The trial and its aftermath were significant events in the ongoing national conversation about racial justice and policing.
