Glass Atrium Ceiling, IDS Center Crystal Court, Minneapolis

The IDS Center's Crystal Court sits at the base of the 792-foot IDS Tower, completed in 1972 to a design by Philip Johnson and John Burgee with Edward Baker. The eight-story atrium was built as a public gathering space linking the tower to the surrounding skyway system, which connects much of downtown Minneapolis. Its steel-and-glass roof structure covers roughly an acre, making it one of the largest enclosed public spaces of its kind in the city. The building remains the tallest in Minnesota and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
