The protest was held in response to the shooting death of June Knightly, who died during a protest in Portland two days prior. Another sign displayed solidarity for Daunte Wright, who was killed by police in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, just days before this event. These signs highlight the interconnectedness of these incidents and a broader movement for racial justice.
