The Flamingo Hotel and Casino, a historic resort on the Las Vegas Strip, is illuminated at night. Opened in 1946 by mobster Bugsy Siegel, it was one of the first luxury hotels and casinos in the area, setting a precedent for the development of Las Vegas as a major entertainment destination.
