Boarded Windows at Ebenezer Care Center, Portland Avenue, Minneapolis

Ebenezer Care Center once operated as a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility along Portland Avenue in South Minneapolis, part of the Ebenezer network affiliated with Fairview Health Services. The organization traces its roots to a home for the elderly founded by a Norwegian Lutheran deaconess order in 1917, growing over the following century into one of the Twin Cities' larger senior care providers. This Portland Avenue location closed its doors as the surrounding health system consolidated services elsewhere, leaving the building vacant. A "Doctor & NP Parking Only" sign still stands near the entrance, a remnant of the staff and clinicians who once worked here.
