Boarded businesses on Lake Street in Minneapolis painted with Black Lives Matter and protest messages in June 2020.
Boarded storefronts on Lake Street in Minneapolis are covered with protest art and messages in early June 2020. Visible text and symbols include “Black Lives Matter,” “Don’t Shoot,” a peace sign, and “Liberty + Justice 4 All” painted across plywood panels protecting business entrances. The boards were installed after the murder of George Floyd and became surfaces for memorials, political messages, and neighborhood response along one of the city’s main commercial corridors.
