Members of the Minnesota National Guard were stationed outside the Hennepin County Government Center in Minneapolis on April 20, 2021. Their presence was in anticipation of the verdict in the trial of Derek Chauvin, a former Minneapolis police officer charged in the murder of George Floyd. The Hennepin County Government Center serves as a primary administrative and judicial hub for the county, and its security was heightened during this period of significant public attention and potential unrest.
