Winston Smith Graffiti on Dumpster, Uptown Minneapolis

A dumpster marked with "Winston Smith" graffiti stands on a street in Uptown Minneapolis. This marking serves as a memorial to Winston Smith, who was killed by a federal task force on a parking garage across the street during the 2020 Minneapolis uprising. The uprising followed the murder of George Floyd and involved widespread protests. The dumpster, a temporary piece of infrastructure for construction or demolition debris, has become a canvas for public expression and remembrance.
