Interstate 35W approaching downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, is seen under a layer of smoke at daybreak on May 30, 2020. Overhead signs for downtown exits, East 35th Street, and Interstate 94 place the view along the main north-south freeway corridor leading into the city center. The haze followed overnight fires during protests after the death of George Floyd, and the light traffic contrasts with the volume normally carried on this route.
