Protesters Outside Trump Rally in Minneapolis – October 10, 2019

Thousands of demonstrators gathered outside the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis on October 10, 2019, as President Donald Trump held a campaign rally inside the arena. Protesters filled the surrounding blocks of the North Loop neighborhood, forming one of the largest crowds seen outside a Trump event during his first term.

The rally drew opposition from a wide coalition of groups, including organizations representing immigrant communities, labor unions, and civil rights advocates. Much of the anger that evening centered on federal immigration enforcement policies and the administration's treatment of refugees and asylum seekers — issues that carried particular weight in Minneapolis, home to large Somali and Hmong communities.
