MN National Guard in Cedar Riverside, Minneapolis

Minnesota National Guard members stand at a snowy Minneapolis street corner near a LOVE POWER mural
Members of the Minnesota National Guard were deployed in the Cedar Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis on January 17, 2026. Their presence was in response to a planned white nationalist march originating from downtown Minneapolis. The neighborhood, known for its diverse population, was on the planned route for a march. The mural in the background, depicting Jesus with outstretched arms and the words "LOVE POWER," is a prominent feature of the Cedar Riverside community.
