Lake of the Isles Northern Lights 2024
The aurora borealis illuminated the sky above Lake of the Isles Parkway in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on May 10, 2024. This parkway is a segment of the historic Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway, a comprehensive system of parks and parkways designed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by landscape architect Horace Cleveland. It encircles Lake of the Isles, providing public access for walking, biking, and scenic drives, connecting urban residents with natural landscapes. The rare visibility of the northern lights at this latitude offered a striking natural spectacle over the city's established park infrastructure.
