Cyclists and pedestrians travel the Midtown Greenway trail beneath the Hennepin Avenue bridge in Minneapolis.

The Midtown Greenway follows a former Milwaukee Road rail corridor that cuts below street level through south Minneapolis. The trail runs roughly 5.5 miles between the Mississippi River and the Chain of Lakes, opening in phases between 2000 and 2007. Hennepin Avenue crosses above the trail on a bridge near Uptown, one of more than 30 street crossings along the route. The nonprofit Midtown Greenway Coalition maintains the corridor for cyclists, walkers, and commuters year-round.
