Bank of America Plaza rises 921 feet and 72 stories in downtown Dallas, making it the tallest building in the city. Completed in 1985, the tower has been wrapped since 2009 in an argon lighting system considered one of the largest of its kind in the world. Fountain Place, a 60-story, 720-foot tower a few blocks away, was designed by Henry N. Cobb of Pei Cobb Freed & Partners and completed in 1986. Both buildings went up during a 1980s construction boom fueled by oil wealth and the growth of Dallas's banking and legal industries.
