“Dump No Waste” Storm Drain Cover in Clearwater, Florida

The manhole cover was cast by U.S. Foundry & Mfg. Corp., a company that has produced municipal ironwork in Florida since the 1920s. Its relief of fish and aquatic plants marks it as part of Clearwater's storm drain system, separate from the sanitary sewer network that carries wastewater to treatment plants. The words "Dump No Waste" warn that anything poured into these drains flows untreated into local creeks, bayous, and eventually Tampa Bay.
