Communications Tower, Millie Hill Lookout, Iron Mountain
Communications antenna and lattice tower atop Millie Hill Scenic Lookout in Iron Mountain, Michigan.
Millie Hill Scenic Lookout sits atop a former mining site in Iron Mountain, Michigan, on the Upper Peninsula. The lookout tower carries a directional antenna array used for wireless communication, mounted on a steel lattice mast anchored by guy wires. Iron Mountain's iron-mining history dates to the 1880s, when the Millie Mine and other pits drove the local economy before operations wound down in the mid-20th century. The hill now serves as a public overlook with views across the surrounding forested terrain.
