Wooden Cabin at Secret Beach, Ambergris Caye

Secret Beach sits on the western side of Ambergris Caye, Belize's largest island, facing the shallow waters of the Caribbean lagoon rather than the open sea. The area developed rapidly over the past decade from an undeveloped mangrove shoreline into one of the island's most visited spots, reachable mainly by golf cart along a sand road cut through the brush. Small wooden structures like this one are common along the shore, often built by local operators for beach clubs, bars, or private getaways. Ambergris Caye's economy has shifted heavily toward tourism since the late 20th century, with San Pedro Town as its commercial hub a few miles to the east.
