People visiting the Alex Pretti Memorial in November 2026
Taken November 2026
Since Tuesday’s midterm election, people have continued to visit the Alex Pretti Memorial in south Minneapolis, leaving their “I Voted” stickers alongside flowers and notes from across the country. Pretti, 37, was an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. U.S. Border Patrol agents fatally shot him on January 24 after he had been disarmed. Last week, Pretti’s family spoke to reporters for the first time and called for accountability. “The federal government went on TV and lied about Alex. They tried to slander his memory to cover up their crime. Not only was it wrong. It was shameful, unfair, and unacceptable. We want our son’s killers brought to justice once and for all.” Find more photos like this on my Operation Metro Surge: Ice in Minneapolis page.
