Tim Lambesis fronted As I Lay Dying, the San Diego metalcore band he co-founded in 2000 and led as chief songwriter and vocalist for more than a decade. The group built its following on albums like "Frail Words Collapse" (2003) and "An Ocean Between Us" (2007), the latter earning a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance. Lambesis stepped away from the band in 2013 amid legal troubles, and As I Lay Dying went on hiatus before reuniting years later with him back on vocals.
