Dance Sculpture, Centennial Olympic Park, Atlanta

The bronze "Dance" sculpture by J. Seward Johnson II stands at the edge of Centennial Olympic Park, depicting two figures caught mid-motion. Johnson, grandson of Johnson & Johnson co-founder Robert Wood Johnson I, was known for life-size bronzes that placed everyday human gestures into public spaces. The park itself was built as the central gathering place for the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics and later converted into a permanent 21-acre green space downtown. The Bank of America Plaza tower, one of the tallest buildings in the Southeast at 1,023 feet, rises in the background near the sculpture's site.
