Capybara Enclosure at Sustainable Safari, Burnsville

Capybara is the world's largest living rodent, native to South America, where it lives in groups near rivers and lakes. This one resides at Sustainable Safari, an exotic animal encounter facility in Burnsville, Minnesota, that houses capybaras alongside other hoofstock and small mammals. Capybaras are semiaquatic and highly social, typically living in herds of ten to twenty animals in the wild. Adults can weigh well over 100 pounds, making them roughly the size of a large dog despite their rodent classification.
