50 Protests, 50 States, One Day (r/50501) protests started being organized on February 5, 2025.
The protesters are standing up against the actions of Elon Musk and the Trump Administration and have been growing in size ever since.
In the Twin Cities, these have mostly taken place at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul.
The “Hands Off!” protest held on April 5, 2025 is likely the largest protest in St. Paul since the 2017 Women’s March at the State Capitol,
with the Minnesota State Patrol estimating a crowd of about 25,000.
“No Kings!” was held on June 14, 2025, hours after Minnesota lawmakers Melissa Hortman and John Hoffman were tragically shot alongside their spouses.
Law enforcement officials urged people not to attend the protest because the shooter was still at large.
The Minnesota State Patrol later released a photo of a note reading “No Kings” found inside the suspect’s vehicle.
