Stone Arch Bridge through trees from Gold Medal Park
The Stone Arch Bridge, a historic railway bridge spanning the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, is viewed through trees from Gold Medal Park. Originally constructed in 1883 by railroad magnate James J. Hill, it was the longest stone arch bridge in the world at the time of its completion. The bridge served freight and passenger trains for the Great Northern Railway until 1978. Today, it is a pedestrian walkway and bicycle path, offering views of the river and the city's skyline, and is a popular destination within the Minneapolis Park System.
