Bayahibe / Cotubanamá

The coastline around Bayahibe, in La Altagracia Province, developed into a resort corridor anchored by large hotel complexes including the Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus, which sits on a sheltered stretch of Caribbean shore near the fishing village of Dominicus. Informal vendor stalls operate directly on the sand beside the resort properties, where small traders sell clothing and handmade goods from palm-thatched structures. This arrangement — resort infrastructure running alongside street-level commerce — is characteristic of how tourism has taken hold along this part of the southeastern Dominican coast.
