New Orleans converted its on-street parking system to electronic single-space meters, replacing older coin-operated models across the French Quarter and downtown districts. The city's Department of Public Works oversees meter enforcement, with most units accepting both coin and credit card payment, including Visa and Mastercard. Standard posted hours in commercial zones typically run Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., matching the operating hours displayed on the units themselves. Revenue collected from parking meters funds a portion of the city's Parking Enforcement Division and infrastructure maintenance budget.
