Roof Depot Rooftop Water Tower, South Minneapolis
This image features the rooftop water tower of the former Roof Depot building in South Minneapolis. Originally constructed in the 1920s as a Sears distribution center, the building and its water tower represent the area's industrial past. The elevated water tower, with its distinctive red support structure and weathered tank, likely served for fire suppression or water pressure for the large industrial facility. In recent years, the Roof Depot site has been a focal point for community activism and environmental justice concerns in the wake of the Minneapolis Uprising, with ongoing discussions about its future use and redevelopment.
